IBIL chosen as local partner
Edition: Computimes; 2*
Section: Outlook
AS part of its Malaysian focus, US-based Sonus Networks Inc has appointed systems integrator IBIL (M) Sdn Bhd as its local partner.
Sonus' president and chief executive officer Hassan Ahmed says IBIL will help to grow market share, focusing directly on the local telecom operators sector, both in the wireless and fixed-line markets.
He says the Sonus business model has always been to sell through partners whom the company supports in all sales and after-sales support. "While the tools and skill sets must be present, the chemistry is equally important. Sonus has always been careful to select partners with the right fit."
Sonus' regional sales director Jack Tee says the voice-over Internet protocol (VoIP) market in Malaysia is growing rapidly. "We see a lot of potential in this multi-million-dollar market," he says.
IBIL's chief executive officer Muhammad Azhan Abdul Hamid says there is now a strong argument for packet telephony in Malaysia. "With the global economic downturn, telecommunications service providers are faced with challenges of managing expenses and retaining customers through innovative offerings," he adds.
