Chinese visitors learn all about British teaching

A Bath primary school has been hosting some Chinese visitors aspart of an educational partnership with the country.

Pupils and staff at Newbridge Primary School have welcomedteacher Wang Jian Feng to spend time with them learning how theywork.

The visit is part of the Bath Suzhou Educational Partnership,which was set up last Easter when a group of head teachers andsenior teachers from a number of city schools went there.

Now two teachers from the Suzhou district have travelled to Bathfor 10 weeks and will be moving around a number of schools to findout more about the education system in the UK.

Newbridge head teacher John Croker said it had been interestedlearning about Forrest's school, the Suzhou New DistrictExperimental Primary School.

He said: "The school is amazing and has the best facilities Ihave ever seen at a primary school, including a planetarium, anathletics track, a dance studio and specialist teaching rooms for awide variety of purposes such as calligraphy and design technology.

"There is also a huge investment in professional developmentthere. We can learn a great deal from each other."

The partnership now has a three-year plan in place which will seestaff visits, pupil exchanges and a variety of collaborativeenterprises.

The next step in the primary school plan is for two teachers, JanCard from Newbridge and Sarah Johnson from St Mary's CatholicPrimary School in Weston, to make a return visit next Easter.
